Tree Service in Montgomery, TX
Where in Montgomery do you work?
Everywhere inside the 77316 and 77356 ZIP codes, which covers historic downtown Montgomery and the whole west shore of Lake Conroe. That includes the gated communities most of our work here comes from: Bentwater off FM 1097 on the western shore, Walden on its peninsula, April Sound on the southern shore, Grand Harbor, and the Margaritaville Lake Resort area.
Downtown Montgomery itself is a different job entirely. Around Fernland Historical Park and the Lone Star Monument and Historical Flag Park you are working next to Republic of Texas era structures, including the Arnold-Simonton House, on lots with trees older than most of the county. That work is slow and careful by necessity.
Drive time from our Conroe yard is about twenty minutes on SH 105.
What makes waterfront tree work different?
Access. On a Lake Conroe waterfront lot there is usually no direction to fell a tree. The house sits on one side, a bulkhead and boat dock on the other, and neighbors close on both flanks, so the tree comes down in pieces lowered on rigging lines instead of dropped.
That is the real reason waterfront removals price differently from a job on an open acre. It is not the address, it is that a ninety foot loblolly over a covered slip has to be dismantled from the top with every piece controlled. Large tree removal on the water is a rigging problem before it is a cutting problem.
Lot slope adds to it. Much of the west shore drops sharply to the water, which limits where a chipper and truck can sit and means more of the wood is carried rather than dragged.
Do you work inside the gated communities?
Yes, and we plan for it. Bentwater, Walden, and April Sound all run gate access, contractor hours, and in some sections architectural or covenant review for removals. We clear entry with the gate office before the crew rolls so nobody is sitting at a call box with a loaded truck.
Golf course frontage in Walden and at the April Sound and Bentwater clubs brings its own requirement, which is that the work cannot leave ruts or debris on maintained turf. We mat travel paths on soft ground and finish with stump grinding rather than excavation so the lawn recovers in weeks rather than a season.
Which trees cause the most trouble around Lake Conroe?
Loblolly pine near the water and post oak and water oak further back from it. Lakefront pines take steady wind off a twenty two thousand acre lake with nothing to break it, and they tend to develop lean and one sided crowns as a result.
Oaks on the west shore have a second problem. Shallow sandy topsoil over clay gives them a wide, flat root plate that holds fine until the ground is saturated, and then the whole tree rolls. That is why so much of our Montgomery storm work is uprooted oak rather than snapped trunk.
Regular canopy trimming is the cheap version of this problem. Balancing a wind loaded crown before hurricane season costs a fraction of what the same tree costs lying across a dock. Oak wilt is also present across this part of Texas, and the Texas Oak Wilt Partnership explains why pruning season matters for oaks specifically.
Do you handle acreage outside town?
Yes. West and north of Montgomery the lots open up toward FM 149 and FM 1097, and the work shifts from single tree removals to lot clearing and brush hogging. Sam Houston National Forest sits north of the area, and properties backing onto that treeline carry heavier fuel loads and more standing deadwood than a subdivision lot ever does.

Frequently Asked Questions
Do you work inside Bentwater, Walden, and April Sound?
Yes. All three are gated, so we clear access with the gate office ahead of the crew and follow each community's contractor hours.
How do you remove a tree on a Lake Conroe waterfront lot?
Usually by rigging it down in sections. Bulkheads, docks, and steep lot drops rule out felling, so pieces are lowered on ropes.
How far is Montgomery from your Conroe base?
Roughly twenty minutes west on SH 105. Bentwater and the FM 1097 side run a few minutes longer around the north end of the lake.
Will heavy equipment damage a manicured lakefront lawn?
Not if it is planned. We mat the travel path, keep the grinder off saturated ground, and grind stumps rather than excavate them.
